Monster is the entry onto the path of the Wheel of Fortune, and the step got its name not for its appearance, but for how those around perceive its bearer.
Its only trait is an extremely high spiritual perception. The Monster hears sounds that others do not hear, sees what they do not see, from time to time discerns the future, and keenly senses danger.
From the outside it looks exactly as the step is named: a person flinches at a nonexistent noise, stares into an empty corner, refuses to walk along a street where the cornice will collapse in an hour. To the uninitiated he is strange and eerie — a "monster."
The step grants no combat power at all, and therein lies its main weakness. But it grants what many lack: an understanding that trouble is near — before the trouble happens.
The formula is curious in how peaceful it looks: the tail of a multi-colored carp, a silver four-leaf clover, three ordinary four-leaf clovers, and one luck talisman, of the kind made by the ninth-step Otherworlders. Plus nine drops of one's own blood.
