Professor of Scrolls is a step with a single ability, but an extremely practical one.
Scroll-making allows the bearer to make scrolls carrying spells from a wide variety of materials. After reading the right word, he burns the scroll — and the spell takes effect.
The value of this is hard to overstate. A scroll removes the main limitation of any sorcerer: a spell no longer needs to be cast at the moment it is needed. It can be prepared in advance, taken along, given to another, and used when there is not enough spirituality or time for a ritual.
That is why the Professor of Scrolls is valuable to the party even more than to himself: he arms those who cannot cast spells at all.
The formula includes a scroll made by one who stands a Sequence above the Professor of Scrolls himself — that is, rising to this step without dealing with a stronger master simply will not work.
