Demon Hunter

The Demon Hunter is on the threshold of a demigod. Physical might at this stage becomes truly fearsome: the bearer runs in a way that raises a hurricane wind, and his mind takes up a place somewhere between the human and the divine. Spirituality sharply increases, and along with it comes a keen spiritual intuition.

The main tool of the stage is the Eye of Demon Hunting. This is not sight in the literal sense, but a general name for the ability to read a target: its nature, weaknesses, state, whether it is afflicted by corruption and whether it is possessed. It works on a combination of senses, spiritual probing, and experience — the Hunter catches traces of evil, degeneration, and decay, and a sixth sense tells him where the crux of the problem lies. An experienced Witchfinder distinguishes lies by these signs, and at short range senses a Silver Knight who has used a rapier and manages to intercept it. When the ability works, a complex dark-green symbol appears in both eyes.

The second is knowledge. The Hunter understands how monsters are arranged and what their parts are good for, knows herbs and materials, and finds the vulnerable places of creatures. In the special state of Meditation, on this basis he himself brews potions, holy ointments, ethereal oils, and applies special marks.

The third skill makes him the terror of demons: Concealment of Mind hides the bearer's intentions and actions so that divination and prophecy stumble against them — even one who usually foresees danger fails to notice it in time.

As a halfgod of stage 4, the Hunter receives a particle of divinity, and with it — an incomplete mythical form: a four-metre cyclops with bluish-black skin, a swollen head, and a black vertical eye-slitted crack from the forehead to the bridge of the nose. Because of his strengthened will, among the saints of this path the form more often turns out relatively stable. Protection and the Light of Dawn at this level also change qualitatively: the wall turns into a dome, and the light condenses not only into weapons.
