Detective is the stage at which reasoning becomes a craft, and the bearer finally acquires physical qualities as well. In reasoning he becomes a master; he masters weapons; he becomes more agile; Restoration — by otherworldly means the Detective analyzes and recreates events that occurred in a certain area; and in ritual magic he grows to the level of a master. Restoration is what this stage is valued for. The Detective needs no witnesses: he reads the place like a text and reconstructs from it what happened here. Combined with ritual magic and the ability to handle weapons, the result is a figure already capable of working in the field. Before the Detective, the Apprentice's path was a desk-bound one; from here he takes to the streets. The second name of the stage — Keeper of Knowledge — points to its place in church and state service. Such an Otherworldly is equally useful both as an investigator in cases involving mysticism and as a person trusted to sort through dangerous records: he is able both to understand what is found and not to perish in the process. The limitation remains the same and will not go anywhere until the very end of the path: the Detective still has little combat power of his own. He wields weapons and is agile, but against an Otherworldly of the combat branch of the same Sequence he will hold out more by cunning and a prepared rite than in direct combat.
