Disciple of Rationalism is a stage at which reading turns into a method.
Observational skill and logical reasoning grow noticeably;
and in ritual magic the bearer becomes a true expert.
The second point is worth emphasizing: the Disciple's path is one of the few branches where ritual magic is mastered in earnest already at the eighth stage. This levels the position of the bearer, who still has no combat power of his own: a rite does not require might, it requires precision and knowledge, and of that the Disciple of Rationalism has enough.
It is precisely from this stage that it becomes clear how the path is dangerous to those around. It does not grant superiority in strength — it grants superiority in understanding: the bearer breaks other people's actions down into parts and sees what they are made of.
It is worth comparing him with his neighbors at the same level. The Midnight Poet of the Path of Darkness at the eighth stage already puts people to sleep with verses, the Hand-to-Hand Fighter weakens mysticism directed at him with his bare body. The Disciple of Rationalism can do neither: in an open clash he loses to almost anyone. His advantage manifests before the fight — in understanding who he will have to deal with and preparing the rite in advance.
Hence the typical place of such an Otherworldly: not in a frontline squad, but where one needs to make sense of an unclear incident, read someone else's records, and figure out what ritual was performed here.
