The Listener is a sequence at which dangerous knowledge no longer needs a prayer: it comes on its own.
Spiritual perception grows even stronger, and the main ability sounds deceptively calm — Listening. The bearer directly hears the whispers of secret entities, which means he is constantly in contact with information from powerful, distorted, and unique beings.
The danger here is obvious and recognized by the canon outright. The method of action of the sequence formulates the task as follows:
The Listener is like a church priest hearing out the sins of others;
his main goal is not to succumb to the influence of the whisper he hears;
this is a state of listening without corruption, and if one brings it to perfection, in the future it will help rise to the Heretical Priest.
That is, the sequence requires doing exactly that which drives people mad, and at the same time not going mad. The Listener cannot yet turn off Listening — this ability will only appear with the Shadow Ascetic at the Seventh Sequence.
Among other things, the formula includes the ear of a black cat of misfortune and its heart — a detail characteristic of the whole path: here one is offered to listen with that which in itself brings misfortune.
