The Scarlet Scholar is the middle of the path and its first stage with a promotion ritual. The bearer's body gains terrifying speed and an unimaginable capacity for recovery.
The main feature of the stage is unusual for mysticism: the power of the Scarlet Scholar directly depends on how deeply he has studied the domain of the Moon. Not on training, not on the age of the attribute, but precisely on understanding. His three main otherworldly powers work exactly to the extent that he understands the subject.
The method of action says the same thing, only in the words of faith: sincerity toward the moon, worship of the moon, and study of the moon.
The promotion ritual brings together both halves of the stage — the scholarly and the ceremonial:
one must gather various gemstones, metals, and the blood of otherworldly creatures corresponding to different lunar phases;
and drink a potion under the full moon.
The composition is also telling: water illuminated seven times by the blood moon, each time for no less than a quarter of an hour. The Path of the Moon requires not only rare materials but also patience.
