The Spectator is the entry to the Seer path and a step that grants neither power nor spells, but changes how the bearer sees people. The body of heart and mind receives a major boost: reasoning, analysis, observation, recognition, and memory go far beyond ordinary human limits.
Vision sharpens separately and with a clear purpose — to read body language. Audrey Hall, standing in the corner of a ballroom, discerned the smallest movements of people at the other end of the room, and that is exactly what the step exists for.
The main skill is literally called reading body language. The Spectator looks at a person strictly from the outside, as an outsider, and through facial expression, mannerisms, and involuntary movements understands what that person actually thinks. This works with a single person and with an entire company at once.
A curious detail of the canon: if an animal drinks the Spectator potion, it gains reason and human speech.
The step's method of action explains its character better than any list of abilities — and it is the most inconvenient one for active people:
at a lavish reception or on a noisy street, the Spectator is always only a spectator: he cannot step onto the stage himself;
the Spectator does not peek — he looks openly and honestly, from his place.
That is precisely why the path is considered deceptively peaceful: his bearer's entire strength lies in understanding others' intentions, not in the ability to do anything with them. That will come later.
