Immortal

Immortal

Highest step

The Immortal — the threshold of a demigod, and the name here is no exaggeration: bodily blows cease to be lethal unless the body is destroyed entirely, and the bearer himself exists in a state between flesh and spirit body.

The main feature of the step is unusual and cruel:

Rebirth — the life of an Immortal is long, but every sixty years he dies and is resurrected, losing all memories and resetting accumulated madness; afterward he has to slowly recover his memory, beginning as if a new life;

Authority over the Afterworld — the connection with it becomes closer, and the bearer uses its power directly.

The resetting of madness every sixty years is, in essence, a built-in protection against loss of control, for which one pays with one's former self. The Immortal does not die, but neither does he remain the same person.

The language of the dead at this step unfolds into an entire system of spells of death, spirits, zombies, withering, and enslavement, and the Door to the Afterworld directly creates a favorable combat environment for the bearer.

As a demigod he gains an incomplete mythic form — an unfinished Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent.

The advancement ritual is more gruesome than most: his own funeral and sixty days underground.
