The Madman is a stage where pent-up desires first get release, and this release is dangerous first of all for the bearer himself.
Constraint — now the Madman is constrained in both body and soul, which makes it extremely difficult to obtain useful information about him through spiritual channels or divination;
Frenzy — his main trait: of his own will he sacrifices his reason and lets his desires run free, receiving in return strength and an improvement of all aspects of himself.
And here the canon introduces a price that will grow until the very end of the path. From this stage the Curse gradually manifests: frequent bursts of desires keep the bearer's mental state at rock bottom, and the Madman loses control more often than most Otherworldly ones.
The Prisoner's Path, thus, honestly warns about itself from the eighth stage: it grants strength in exchange for reason, and this exchange is not one-time but constant.
The composition emphasizes the same: the brain of an imitator-werewolf, the tongue of a man-eating dog, and a hundred milliliters of his own blood.
