Night Watcher — a demigod threshold on the Path of Darkness and a step that has no two identical bearers. The reason lies in the ritual: advancement requires the bloodline traits of the descendants of true gods, and which exact blood goes into the work determines which abilities the Watcher receives. The differences concern working with spiritual bodies — in all other respects the step is the same for everyone.
The first common ability is the Domain of Night. Pure darkness bursts from the bearer's body in a tide and outlines an area where his own powers grow, while enemies who fall inside grow weaker. The domain serves both as protection, and as a way to extinguish others' harmful effects, and as a convenient medium for the spirits the Watcher commands. He torments the enemy in various ways: it corrodes, drains life force, and, on top of that, sends misfortune.
The second is Ensnaring with Hair. The Watcher creates and directs countless hairs, much like a Demoness, binding and immobilizing the opponent. Their touch brings cold: thoughts stop, the body calms, and a person begins to feel as though resisting a peaceful sleep is no longer desirable. The hair can be black, or it can be invisible — as though born from the darkness of another's dream.
The composition of the potion is grim even by the standards of the path: a dark brain, the heart of a malignant moon guardian, and a bonfire that was kept burning for more than ten years.
