Sailor

Sailor

Lower step

Sailor — the entrance to the Path of the Tyrant, and it grants no charms at all: only a body remade for the sea.

Affinity with water — the bearer acquires properties usual for sea creatures;

Phantom scale — it hides under the skin, and with each new step it grows stronger;

Balance — exceptional even by the standards of seasoned sailors;

Physical strength — notably higher than human.

Modest on paper, but in the conditions for which the step is intended, this is a great deal. On deck in a storm, underwater, when falling overboard, the difference between a Sailor and an ordinary man is the difference between one who survives and one who drowns.

The Path of the Tyrant is entirely bound to the sea and the storm, and its church is the Church of the Lord of Storms. It begins with a person simply ceasing to be a stranger to the water.

It should be understood that the ninth step here grants nothing on land. No charms, no protection, no sense for danger: in a Bucklund alley a Sailor is just a sturdy lad with good balance. But at sea, where an ordinary man is helpless by definition, he gains an advantage that can be bought with neither money nor experience.

The potion's composition is sailor-like to the last drop: a murloc bladder, an ogre's shell, three hundred milliliters of strong brew, and sea water. Plus nine drops of his own blood — the price for the sea to recognize the drinker as its own.
