Fraudster

Fraudster

Lower step

Rogue — a step where a clever tongue is added to deft hands. The bearer becomes charming and disarming: their charm makes people believe them almost effortlessly. The body also improves — they are so quick and agile that they escape the Clown's paper daggers with a tumble.

The skills come together into a coherent scheme of deception:

Eloquence — not only polished speech, but also an otherworldly effect that makes what is said convincing; it works through the Spiritual World, influencing the body, heart, and mind of the listener;

Thought diversion — achieved both through eloquence and through deeds, posture, surroundings, and details prepared in advance; an experienced Rogue diverts another's thought even without otherworldly powers;

Derangement of the mind — the Rogue induces certain visions upon the target.

The previous skills also grow: with Keen Observation he can now read the microexpressions and minute movements of his interlocutor — he is far from the Spectator on the Seer's path, but it is enough to grasp another's state. And Theft begins to take spiritual materials, if they interact with the Spiritual World.

It is here that the canon first notes the difference in path versions. In Amon's version, Excellent Observation does not get a qualitative leap at this step and only reaches the norm by Parasite. The flip side is telling: when other Rogues encounter Amon, they cannot see through him, even if he is simply fooling around without any powers — and they themselves become the object of mockery.
