Clown

The Clown is a stage where the Jester's path first acquires a body. After advancement, the bearer gains such command over their own body that they can be compared to a master acrobat and circus performer at once.

This command is literal: the Clown controls almost all functions of their body and facial expressions — to the point that their face stops betraying emotions. Agility and speed become exceptional, strength increases noticeably, and coordination and sense of balance become almost inhuman: knocking the Clown off their feet, except in the most extreme circumstances, simply fails.

Spirituality increases a little, but one of its properties sharpens greatly — an intuition for danger. In the Clown it reaches a brief foreboding: he manages to understand that trouble is about to happen, although the picture is usually vague and resists interpretation.

A first true otherworldly ability also appears — Paper Daggers. The Clown briefly makes ordinary sheets of paper hard and sharp as steel, and then puts them to use: throwing them like knives or striking at close range. There is enough power in them for such a sheet to pierce stone and cut through the flesh and bone of a Hunter — an Otherworldly being who is inherently tougher in combat than any human.

From all this, the character of the stage is formed: the Clown is not stronger than an opponent, he is faster, more precise, and more unpredictable — and armed with what no one considers a weapon. He has neither armor nor raw force, and in a direct clash with a combat stage of the same level he has nothing to rely on; his territory is suddenness, the carelessness of others, and a stage prepared in advance.

It is also worth noting what is still absent at this stage. Spiritual vision and divination, inherited from the Seer, have not gone anywhere, but neither have they grown: at the eighth stage the J's path gains body, not insight. A real leap in mysticism will only happen with the Juggler.
