Traveler

Traveler

Middle level

The Traveler is the midpoint of the path and that very step for which the Door path exists: here true translocation appears.

Determination of position — the bearer always knows where they are; in the Spirit World they have an innate sense of direction, so they will not get lost nor come out crippled;

The Traveler's door — they open a door into the Spiritual World and walk there while continuing to feel the real world; this is true long-range translocation, and the longer the path, the less instantaneous it is, while the maximum range depends on the step and the strength of the spiritual body;

Flicker — a short-range translocation that leaves ghostly trails behind: the Traveler either appears flush against the target or recoils, baffling the opponent;

The Invisible Hand — they take objects at a distance.

The difference between Flicker and translocation is subtle but important: Flicker relies on that piece of the Spiritual World that corresponds to the locality, whereas translocation relies on the Spiritual World in its entirety. Frequent translocation can achieve the effect of Flicker, only it will cost far more spirituality.

There is a vulnerability too: if the connection to the Spiritual World is severed, the Traveler will not get anywhere — in the literal sense. And when their powers are suppressed, only Flicker over a small area remains to them.

The record of the previous step also grows: now the bearer holds up to four demigod powers, and in effect they come close to a true fourth Sequence.

The advancement ritual demands thoroughness: four points in the depths of the Spiritual World, all far apart from one another.
