死
「死の道」は、異界の22の道の一つであり、死者、霊、そして最後の境界を司る。その担い手は境界の両側で活動する：死者を取り調べ、魂を導き、門を守る。
道は屍収集者の薬（配列9）から始まり、配列0「死」へと至る。「永遠の闇」グループに属する。
小説の時代において、道の真の主は死んでおり、「死」の遺産は世界中に散らばっている——そのため、そのすべての公式は教会や秘密結社の狩りの対象となっている。
作用方法
行動方法 — 薬を消化する方法である。異界者は、力が自身の一部となるまで、その階級が命じる通りに振る舞わねばならない。薬が消化されるまでは、保持者は脆弱である。力は既にあるが、それを制御する権能は未だ無いのだ。
道の役割は文字通りである。死体収集者と墓掘り人は死体を扱い、霊媒師は逝去した者との対話を行い、渡し守と門番は魂をさらに先へと送り届ける。
この方法は長らく一部の者のみの知識であった。教会の階層者たちはそれを明かそうとせず、多くの異界者は目を閉ざしたまま階級を上げ、その代償として正気を失った。
Death is not the end, but a door. Behind it is a Staircase, along which souls ascend or descend. But not everyone knows that this Staircase is alive. It breathes, feels, remembers. And it has its guardians — those who were once human themselves, but chose to remain between worlds.
The Corpse Collector is the first to meet the dead. He takes the bodies, but not the souls. His job is order. He is not cruel, he just does his job.
The Spirit Medium is a guide between worlds. He hears the voices of those who are stuck and helps them find a way. But the price for his help is memory. With each spirit he guides, he loses a part of himself.
The Gatekeeper guards the Staircase. He does not let in those who are not ready, and does not let out those who have already left. His eyes see the true essence of everyone, and his decision is final.
And Death... Death does not choose. It simply comes. But even it has a heart, and it beats in time with every pulse of the Staircase.
