The Otherworldly must behave as his stage prescribes, until the power becomes part of him. Until the potion is digested, the bearer is vulnerable: the power is already there, but there is no control over it yet.

The roles of the path go from observation to intervention. The Spectator watches people without interfering in their affairs. The Telepath and the Psychiatrist already work with someone else's mind, the Hypnotist and the Manipulator — with someone else's will.

The Method long remained the knowledge of the few: the hierarchies of the churches were in no hurry to reveal it, and many Otherworldly rose blindly, paying for it with their sanity.
